This
letter is in recommendation of Bob Klatt. My name
is Anthony Garnett, I'm the assistant manager/program
director for an after school teen club/weekend music
venue known as THE GARAGE in the city of Burnsville
MN. Our after school drop-in kids are primarily
minority and or low income kids. Our summer youth
program is known as the Jr. Squad open to ages 11-14.
With our reputation serving minority and low income
kids throughout the school year, our summer Jr.
Squad attracts the same demographic. During the
summer of 2006 I was fortunate to arrange a week
long bowling camp with Burnsville Bowl where Bob
served as the coach/facilitator. We had 16 kids
register through THE GARAGE; eight of the 16 were
Latino and spoke English as a second language. We
also had two kids diagnosed with ADD. Truth be told
our Jr. Squad and after school drop in crowd can
pose a myriad of challenges for my staff.
Bob
created a fun learning environment with easy to
understand instruction through demonstration and
repetition. Bob showed enthusiasm and a playful
sense of humor even poking fun at himself, keeping
the kids learning and laughing at the same time.
Bob made sure to take time to help each participant
individually with technique during the free bowling
time. Along with my staff I observed 11 year olds
go from throwing gutter-balls with two hands to
picking up spares with the proper approach after
only five sessions. Thanks to Bob our kids not only
learned how to be better bowlers they had fun doing
it. Many of our kids that participated in that bowling
camp have returned to Burnsville Bowl with their
families.
In
summary, I was very pleased and thankful to have
Bob Klatt as an instructor/coach for our Jr. Squad
Bowling camp. I highly recommend him working with
youth of all ages. He is patient, observant, and
extremely approachable, any organization is fortunate
to have him. I would definitely work with Bob again
if given the chance.
