‘My son passed away
four years ago and you made me realize since that time
I’ve made myself depressed. Thank you for making
me see I need to change my attitude to change my life.’
Then, I was the one being moved. It was
evident I was able to jumpstart a complete stranger onto
a better path toward her personal happiness. Although
I addressed a group of 20, she alone was reason enough
for me to be there that day. Perhaps, we were destined
to impact each other’s worlds in the alleys. Beyond
the blessing of that day, it validated that my “10
Frames to Get Your Life on a Roll” can make a positive
impact on someone’s outlook; and life. Denise, thank
you for inspiring me to get my life on a roll too!
A few days after
that team building event I received an email from Nancy,
the Director of Nursing. Nancy wrote,
‘Bob, Thank you again.
Many more smiles at work today, it is like it is a different
place. A card is being sent around that someone started
for you and many have said that they really gained insight.
I had one lady tell me it was the most fun she has ever
had……….WOW! The pictures will be posted
and put on t-shirts!!!!!!!!!!!!!’
This positive feedback helped me see that
I had been given something to help people. This format
I was developing, using bowling, worked to improve other’s
personal and professional lives.
This is one of the ways that bowling and
life are alike. You roll one really awesome strike or
have a really good day and it makes you believe you can
do it again. It’s the one exceptional shot or event
that sticks in your mind and serves as positive reinforcement
that “I can do this”. Moments like these should
be permanently stored in your mind for recall to energize
yourself when you’re down or in doubt.
